Corporate Career Panel – Open to all business majors, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. the locations will be announced on Handshake under "events". Representatives from our business partners will discuss their companies and the opportunities available to students. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions toward the end of the session as well as drop off their resume with the panelists. Business casual dress.
Registered students who attend the panel will be eligible to have a professional photo taken (free) for their LinkedIn account.

Michael LaSorte - Mike is originally from Wilmington Delaware and came to Phoenix in March of 1989 for a month and is still there. He has been in technology sales since 1994 and got into staffing in 1996 with Compuware in Phoenix where he was responsible for responsible for business development around staffing, projects and solutions until 2001. In the fall of 2001, he left Compuware to help a friend with a start-up named Technology Staffing Solutions and was there until he was hired in 2009 to start the Phoenix Branch of Signature Consultants where he is still employed. He has an undergraduate BSBAM and an MBA in Technology Management.
Lorena Lobo - Lorena is originally from San Diego, CA. She graduated from Menlo College with a Business Management degree. As an National Internal Recruiter for Signature Consultants, she partners with universities to offer students career opportunities in Signature’s 25 offices across the country. Lorena started her sales career in Signature’s San Francisco office in 2014 as an Associate Recruiter, the position available for NAU students today. She recently relocated to Arizona and works in Signature’s Phoenix office, to help grow the Signature family across the West Coast. She is excited to meet more NAU students!
Discover Financial Services
Karlie Andrews - Graduated from W.A. Franke College of Business in May 2015 with a Marketing and Finance degree. Karlie was hired on at Discover Financial Services into the Operations Internship Program. After completion of the program, she continued on into the Operations Leadership Program, which developed people management skills and prepping to becoming a Team Leader. In November 2015 she was managing a team of 15 individuals within the Discover Phoenix Center. Karlie now has made a transition into Human Resources and is the Talent Strategist, where she works to increase Discover Financial Services candidate pool from various events, sources, and partnerships so that the recruiting teams have more talent assets to their pipeline.
Rado Kanev - Radostin Kanev works as a manager at Equity Methods and handles the intricacies of many of the firm’s most complicated financial reporting processes. Originally from Bulgaria and after studying for some time in Spain, Rado has always had a deep passion for travel and exploring other countries. Through extensive international experience, he has learned to adapt quickly to new environments and communicate successfully with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Radostin holds a BS in Finance from the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He has also earned business certificates in International Business as well as in small business and entrepreneurship.

Anita was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, however Las Vegas, NV is now home to her.
Anita has 20+ years Human Resources experience. She began her career with Cintas in 2011. Every facet of Human Resources has been her passion throughout her entire career. She finds recruiting MTs exceptionally fun and rewarding.

David was raised in Newton, a suburb right outside of Boston, MA. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a Degree in Political Science & Legal Studies. He was working in Hotel Management in Costa Rica before he discovered Enterprise. He began his Enterprise career in Tucson, AZ. He was promoted to manage in Phoenix after 3 years, first at Sky Harbor then later in North Phoenix. He has recently been promoted to Area Manager over Northern Arizona as of September of 2016. He has been with Enterprise for 5 years.

Edwin “Cole” Wilcox
I was born in Annapolis, MD and lived in GA and the Netherlands before moving to Phoenix in the summer of 1991. My professional career began upon graduation from NAU in December of 2008 with a degree in Finance (Magna Cum Laude). By the time I graduated I had switched majors from Political Science to Finance and had spent a wonderful semester in Tubingen, Germany studying the German language. This broad range of experience served me well when I began searching for a career. When creating a resume I made certain to include a broad range of interests and skills, including Risk Management and Underwriting. That caught the eye of Cigna Healthcare and I was fortunate enough to find myself in the ULTRA Training Program in January of 2009.
After spending roughly 3.5 years in our Regional segment I returned to the Select Segment as a manager for our AZ market. I’ve been in this role for roughly 2.5 years and am excited every day to help my team grow professionally and drive strategic plans to hit our market goals. In this role I interact with high-level decision makers at Cigna, build relationships with external partners in the marketplace and am responsible for growing both revenue and earnings each year in a sustainable fashion that puts our customers first.
Holly Rosen has been with GEICO for over 3 years and currently works as a Regional College Recruiter. She graduated from the UA with a degree in psychology and linguists and no idea how she was going to use it, and wound up at GEICO thinking it would be a temporary stepping stone until she found a “real job” after college. Instead, she discovered an amazing career she never expected and now plans to one day retire from GEICO.

John Walters began his insurance in 1995 and recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with Liberty Mutual. During his time in the industry he has held both sales and management positions.
In his current role as senior branch manager John oversees the Scottsdale operations generating revenue in excess of $24M per year. This is the largest and most productive office in the State of Arizona.
John is also a veteran of the US Army where he served 20 years in the active, reserve and National Guard components. His experiences ranged from a field medic, cavalry operations, instructing to serving as an Inspector General. He was awarded the Bronze Star in 2007 during his time in Iraq.
Tony Montagnino began his insurance career in 2002 as a sales representative in Northern California and will celebrated his 14th anniversary with Liberty Mutual in August of 2016. During his time in the industry Tony has held both sales and management positions.
In his current role as senior branch manager Tony oversees the Glendale Arizona branch and manages a team 15 Sales representative selling in excess of 3000 insurance policies per year.
Tony is a veteran of the Marine Corp and also worked in high-technology sales and marketing for 15 years in the Silicon Valley of California where he held multiple director level management positions.

Deanna Chew, CPCU, ARM
Upon graduation from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, Deanna Chew started her insurance career as a Commercial Liability underwriter with Aetna Life and Casualty. This experience led to her to work with several other carriers (Reliance, C N A, Safeco, St. Paul and St. Paul Travelers) over time and handling Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico territories while underwriting construction and general business accounts for all lines of coverage.
After over 18 years on the carrier side of insurance, Deanna joined Lovitt & Touche Insurance agency in Phoenix. For more than 11 years at Lovitt & Touche, Deanna’s role is a Construction Account Executive, working with commercial and residential contractors by creating and overseeing their insurance programs. She is also very involved with developing and overseeing client programs in an offshore Captive.
Deanna received her Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter designation (CPCU) in 1997 and her Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation in 2014. She has held leadership roles on the local chapter’s executive board, as well as national leadership roles for the CPCU professional Society. Currently, Deanna is active serving as the President-Elect for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Arizona (IIABAZ) association. In addition, Deanna stays busy as a member of the Desert View Village Planning Committee for the City of Phoenix.

Brady Johnson, Operations Manager with Discover Financial Services
Brady Johnson is an Operations Manager with Discover Financial Services (Discover). Brady's career with Discover started in Utah in 1999. He was hired as customer service agent and has advanced through different levels of management over the past 9 years. In 2011 Brady transferred to Discover's customer care center in Phoenix, which employees 2,500+ employees in various roles from customer service to risk analytics. Brady leads a department of 100+ employees in Customer Service and Credit Management. He has operations experience in customer service, collections, underwriting, and fraud.
Brady helped launch Discover's Operations Leadership and Internship programs in Phoenix, which targets juniors and seniors from local universities for management positions. He has worked closely with Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, and University of Arizona on talent acquisition initiatives. Brady continues to lead both programs, while also supporting initiatives for internal employee's career path to management positions.
Kristen Bradley, Marketing Team at Nextiva
Kristen Bradley joined the Nextiva team a year ago after Googling, “Top 20 places to work in Arizona”. She quickly discovered Nextiva’s culture was special, and she wanted to be a part of it. Since that time, Kristen has helped co-create Nextiva’s Culture department, and one of her proudest moments on the team was helping 40+ colleagues complete the P.F. Chang’s Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon in January of this year.
Kristen’s past time is spent hiking, practicing yoga, and discovering new places to nosh in the Valley with her friends. She has a love for traveling, and has lived in London, UK, Sydney, Australia, and has even scuba dove in the Great Barrier Reef. She is an eternal optimist, and has found her second ‘home’ at Nextiva.
Yoel Lustgarten, Culture and Marketing Lead with Nextiva
Yoel Lustgarten joined the Nextiva team in 2011, originally as an intern while studying at Arizona State University. Since that time, Yoel has been integral in creating two major departments at Nextiva, ultimately finding his home on the Culture team. In Yoel’s words, “My goal is to try to create a more exciting, innovative, and overall better working environment where people are genuinely happy to come to work every day.”
Yoel was born in Tel Aviv, Isael, and with the majority of his family born and raised in Columbia, Yoel brings a unique perspective to the Nextiva team. In 2014, Yoel achieved a life dream of attending the World Cup in Brazil, and he is looking forward to life’s new challenges and adventures in 2015!

Lisa joined Moss Adams in 2014 and is the Campus Recruiter for Los Angeles and Phoenix. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a BA in Psychology and minor in Managing Human Relations, she went on to get a Managing Human Resources Certificate from the University of California, Los Angeles, and holds a Professional Human Resources certification.
Kathleen Taylor, Equity Methods
An expert in recruiting and selection, leadership development, facilitation, assessment, goal setting, planning and event management. Kathleen manages all aspects of the Equity Methods Recruiting and Marketing initiatives while enhancing the internal corporate culture. Kathleen works closely with the Financial Reporting and Valuation Groups at Equity Methods, and is responsible for formulating the firm's strategy for talent acquisition, university partnerships and marketing initiatives support.

Angela Hewitt is a Senior Investment Service Specialist at Edward Jones.
She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Personal Finance and Management in 2002 and 2005, respectively, from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and she received a Masters of Business Administration with a focus on International Business in 2009. Hewitt has been an employed at Edward Jones since 2003 and began by assisting advisors with factual investment information and trading strategies. In 2007 she relocated to Arizona to focus on the recruitment, retainment, and training of employees. Angela has volunteered with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and the Tempe Cares initiative through Edward Jones. She is currently a member of the NAACP and the Secretary of the Phoenix Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants.
Casey Miller is currently the Talent Acquisition Manager for the state of Arizona’s Enterprise Holdings operations.
Miller started her career with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in South Florida in 2006 after graduating with degrees in English and Mass Communications from the University of North Florida. After spending four years’ operating the front-end business of Enterprise and advancing to the level of Branch Manager, Miller followed her passion for people and marketing into the recruiting field. Over the last four years Miller has developed talent strategies across all five divisions of the Enterprise Holdings business lines, creating social media strategies, building relationships with referral partners and ensuring government compliance in the hiring and promotional processes. Miller has been a leader in the company an industry in Veteran hiring initiatives and was a featured speaker at least years conference of the Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers. She has also been involved with the United Way both in South Florida and in Arizona on the Women’s Leadership Council and Young Leaders Society. Miller has also organized several volunteer events in the year she has spent in Arizona, from serving at the St. Mary’s Food Bank to the Phoenix Heart Walk to her upcoming project, leading a team for the Phoenix Alzheimer’s Walk this November. In her free time, Miller enjoys being outdoors with her young daughter and husband.
Claire Coulter connects talent with opportunity for Ferguson in the Western region of the United States!
Claire started her career with Ferguson right after graduating from college and has taken on several roles since. She first completed Ferguson’s entry-level Sales Trainee Program which led to a career path in Inside Commercial Plumbing Sales. After sixteen months with the company, she was promoted into the Talent Management team as a Campus Recruiter visiting college campuses across the country. In her current role as the Western Region Recruiter, she is responsible for the recruiting efforts in thirteen states from New Mexico all the way to Alaska.
Claire graduated with a degree in Business Management from the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University in May 2012. She currently resides in Newport News, Virginia. In her free time, she loves going to the beach and traveling back home to Texas to see friends and family.

Kim began her corporate recruitment career 11 years ago working at PetSmart’s home office in North Phoenix. There, she focused on Supply Chain, Finance, Legal and Human Resources Recruitment. After 5 years at PetSmart, she joined Banner Health Corporate where she focused on Executive Recruitment, hiring all the C Suite Level roles for the 7 state Banner System. She is currently Sr. Recruiter at LifeLock where she supports Product, Legal, Marketing, Finance and Human Resource recruitment. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management and is PHR certified (Professional in Human Resources). She is originally from Kansas City, Missouri and has lived in Arizona for 17 years. She is married with a 2 year old son and resides in North Phoenix.

General Motors Company: Raffi Simonian, Arizona Process Manager
Raffi Simonian is an organizational change agent that has been helping large companies embrace the values and principles driving the Lean and Agile development movement. Raffi was acknowledged by Mike Cohn in his book “Succeeding with Agile” for his help researching and reviewing drafts. His work experience ranges from business analyst, software tester, Java developer, program and project management and process coach. He is a Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) and Project Management Processional (PMP).
Raffi is currently working for General Motors and is helping the corporation embark on an industry leading IT transformation.
Mass Mutual: Emilie Shiner - Sales Manager
Emilie Shiner started in the insurance and financial services industry in 2006 in Connecticut. In 2007, she was promoted to Director of Recruiting for the Southern California region. In 2011, she hired 17 Agents for the Scottsdale location and had a top 15 team in the Company. She currently is responsible for the recruitment, training and development of a sales team at MassMutual, Arizona.
Emilie graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Economics. She graduated from Chapman University with a Master of Science in Human Resources and a Certificate in Organizational Leadership. She holds a Professional Human Resources designation through the Society for HR Management. Additionally, she has an Arizona and California Life and Health Insurance License and holds her Series 6, 7 and 63.
Emilie is on the Board of Directors and the Communications Chair in the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) of Greater Phoenix. She is the Vice President of GET Phoenix, a Young Professionals organization focused on Phoenix’s economic growth stimulated by Fortune 500 relocation to take advantage of up-and-coming young talent GET Phoenix helps to develop.
Quicken Loans: Cameron Wilson, recruiter and Pamela Smith, executive recruiter
Cameron Wilson is a recruiter with Quicken Loans, which is currently ranked #5 on Fortune Magazine’s Top 100 Companies to work for list. Cameron works to match job seekers with positions within Quicken Loans and sister companies. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Certificate in Accounting from the W. A. Franke College of Business at NAU. Right after graduation she completed a summer recruiting internship and was hired on at the end of the summer in a full time recruiting position. Since coming on-board with Quicken Loans, Cameron has been focusing on bringing top talent into the industry leading Mortgage Banking training program.
While at NAU, Cameron was an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and the Order of Omega Greek Honors Society. She held an on-campus job and was actively involved in activities going on at NAU.
Pamela Smith is an executive recruiter with Quicken Loans, which is currently ranked #5 on Fortune Magazine’s Top Companies to work for list. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from NAU and has been working in recruiting since her graduation. She has worked as a contract recruiter for a number of large companies all across the Phoenix Valley. She now focuses on bringing the best and brightest into Quicken Loans and their top training program for Mortgage Banking.
She grew up with parents in the military and spent a lot of time traveling around the country. She loves the outdoors and one of the things she misses most about Flagstaff is playing Frisbee golf in the pines.
Vanguard: Shannon Atkison, manager of the New Client Experience initiative
Shannon Atkison has been at Vanguard for 5.5 years. She started her career as an Investment Professional in VBS ISG in August of 2008. Shannon joined the leadership team as a Team Leader (TL) in Retail Services in April of 2010. During her time in Retail Services, Shannon was the AZ Onboarding TL, had an HR internship in Leadership Development, and represented the department as the AZ Enhanced Guidance TL. Most recently Shannon became the manager of the New Client Experience initiative, with teams located in all three sites.
Shannon graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University and earned her MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business. In her free time she loves to compete in local triathlons and spend time with her family and friends.

FCB’s Career Development Office put together another successful Career Exploration Day for the fall 2013 semester. A major difference this semester though was the decision made by Ron Smith, CDO’s director, to expand the career-oriented events for the entire week leading up to Career Exploration Day. Each day was outlined HERE, but the main highlight was the Corporate Career Panel held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, the day before Career Exploration Day.
The panel was scheduled to run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Gardner Auditorium, with representatives from Charles Schwab Corporation, Robert Half Company, General Motors Company and REDW CPA/Business and Financial Advisors talking about various aspects of their companies and describe the positions they were looking to hire for. Their biographies can be viewed HERE.
“It went really well. We had around 55-60 people attend,” Smith said. “The students were really engaged. They asked a lot of questions, and we actually went until 8:30.”
Some of the topics covered were interviewing skills, social networking, resume writing, and how to handle the first year on the job.
Daphne Cruz Sandino, a senior accounting major, attended this event and came back with some great tips on resume writing from Shannon Metzger of Robert Half.
“She said that a resume is what gets you the interview, but an interview and how you present yourself is what gets you the job,” Cruz Sandino said. “When writing a resume one must avoid first person, keep sentences short, use bullet points, don't add irrelevant information, no picture on resume, and no big words.”
Jessica Taylor, human resources coordinator for REDW, touched on the "importance of practicing commonly asked questions in interviews, asking relevant and thoughtful questions, bringing an ID, a notepad, and sample of work to an interview," according to Cruz Sandino.
Students were able to talk to the representatives after the panel to ask further questions if they had any or drop off resumes for consideration.
“General Motors set up an interview that night, they were so impressed with one of the students,” said Wendy Tappan, CDO’s program coordinator.
For everyone else, they were still at an advantage for Thursday’s event since they were already comfortable with the professionals and knew more of what to expect.
“I think the informal setting made it really good for the students to engage with the employers in Gardner,” Smith said.
“It’s great that the students who were interested in the companies got to meet [these representatives], talk to them, make that connection, and then at the career fair it was one more connection to get noticed and remembered,” Tappan added. “The more connections you can have with these companies, the more you’ll be remembered.”
“During Career Exploration Day I actually went up to talk to Jessica Taylor and thanked her for sharing all her insightful information that will help students improve their career preparation,” Cruz Sandino said. “She asked me to add her on LinkedIn and she told me that she could take me to lunch next time I am in Phoenix.”
Each student who attended the panel event was given one of several door prizes provided by companies such as Starbucks, Charles Schwab, and Sam’s Club.
“We’re really happy with the first-time participation and the success of the event,” Smith said, “and I think the students walked away with a lot of information from the companies that will be useful in their job search.”
Smith hopes to continue these Corporate Career Panels with the next one in Spring 2014 and hopefully one in Fall 2014 as well.
