What is the degree?
The degree is an MBA, with an emphasis in Applied Management. The course concepts and content will include a focus on hospitality-related processes and management.
Is this degree accredited?

What is the format for the program?
The format for the program is designed for the working hospitality manager. Students accepted into the program will begin their coursework in May 2014. The program combines face-to-face classroom sessions (residency sessions) with on-line instruction between the face-to-face sessions.
When does the program start?
The program will begin in May 12, 2014, for a six day residency session in Flagstaff.
Can I keep my full time job?
Yes. You may work full time, as the program has been developed for working professionals.
How long does it take to complete?
The program takes two years to complete.

Where are the classes offered?
The residency portion of the program will be split between the NAU Mountain Campus in Flagstaff, Arizona and the NAU North Phoenix Campus in Phoenix, Arizona.
Are any of the classes online?
Portions of your coursework, between the residency sessions, will be offered online.
What is the course workload when I am not in class?
During your residency, you will be completely immersed in the coursework when not in class. In-between residency periods, you will have work assigned by individual professors.
Are the students in the program completing it together as one cohort?
Yes. You will complete the entire program with the same peers. Once you begin the program in May courses are offered sequentially until all requirements are complete.
How much does it cost?
The total cost of the program is approximately $51,000 based upon current tuition rates and the program fee.
What does the cost include?
The cost includes tuition, program fee, course materials, breakfasts and lunches during the residency period.
When is the cost of the program due? Is it due in one lump sum?
NAU tuition is due each term according to the schedule provided by NAU Student and Departmental Account Services HERE. The program fee is divided equally between the six residency periods and is due on the same schedule as tuition.
Is there financial aid available?
We encourage students to contact the NAU Office of Financial Aid to inquire about student loans.
Do you provide lodging and meals for the students?
Lodging is not provided. You will be provided breakfasts and lunches during the residency portion.
Do you provide transportation to the residency locations?
Transportation is not provided.
How do I apply?
Please visit the Admissions page HERE. The application process is completed in two stages. You will complete and submit a Pre-Application in Stage One. After submission and review of the Pre-Application, you will be contacted to complete Stage Two. You can also request a checklist from The W.A. Franke College of Business Graduate Programs office.
Is there an application fee?
There is no application fee for Stage One, Pre-Application. The Stage Two application requires a fee of $65.
What are the admissions criteria?
Baccalaureate degree in any field accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting association. International institutions must be officially recognized by their Ministry of Education.
Over seven years of post-undergraduate, full-time work experience in the hospitality industry or a related field, with significant role progression, increasing management responsibilities, and demonstrated leadership
Can the GMAT/GRE exam requirement be waived?
Yes. Under certain circumstances the exam may be waived. Please contact The W.A. Franke College of Business Graduate Programs office to apply for a waiver.
Are there prerequisite requirements?
Admission criteria and math prerequisites are required.
When is the deadline to apply?
There is no deadline, but applicants are encouraged to complete their applications by February 15, prior to the Spring start. Students will be admitted into the program until the class reaches capacity. Please be aware you will be required to complete prerequisite classes after admission, so we suggest you complete the admissions process as soon as possible.
My undergraduate degree was not in business. Can I still apply?
I have an undergraduate degree in business. Do I still need to take the foundation classes that are on the schedule?
Yes. All admitted students must take the foundation courses included in the curriculum.
