Flagstaff, AZ, October 11, 2013–The W. A. Franke College of Business at Northern Arizona University recently announced the launch of its new, limited-residency Master of Business Administration – Applied Management for Hospitality Professionals (MBA-h). The only degree of its kind, this two-year hybrid program is designed specifically for experienced hospitality managers and leverages Northern Arizona University’s proven success in both Business and Hotel and Restaurant Management education.
"We always review the educational qualifications of our most senior leaders, as it is important to our owners. An MBA with a focus on Hospitality would be a real advantage for any manager working for us."
- Mark Koehler, Vice President of Operations and Finance- Americas, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts
Once enrolled in the MBA-h program—a growth opportunity for working professionals to develop their business and leadership competencies—students will join a professional cohort of their peers participating in online coursework and quarterly residencies spanning from 3 to 6 days in either Flagstaff or Phoenix. Because the program’s required 28 days in residency are spread across two years, students can earn a “true” MBA degree while maintaining their jobs.
Professors from AACSB-accredited The W. A. Franke College of Business will teach the core MBA curriculum that has been tailored to the hospitality industry, utilizing real-life case studies and examples. The professional cohort also provides the opportunity for students to network and learn from each other’s professional experiences.
Required qualifications for the new program include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; a minimum of seven years of post-undergraduate work experience in hospitality or a related field; at least five years of mid-level or higher management experience; and proven leadership ability.
The W. A. Franke at Northern Arizona University is accredited by the AACSB – International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
