The Business Leadership Program (BLP) has been very active in the FCB so far for the spring 2013 semester. Students in this program are on their way to learning how to be leaders through many different workshops and events.

They attended the annual National Collegiate Leadership Conference (NCLC) in Tucson from February 15-17, 2013. At this conference, students were able to learn skills that could be applied to their school work as well as home lives and work situtations.

On February 22, 2013, BLP members went to a listening workshop that focused on reflective listening. Melody Hicks presented her tips on how to be a good listener which is important since listening is the first step to becoming a leader.

Students also helped to organize FCB’s Career Exploration Day on February 28, 2013. A few volunteers from the program greeted company representatives as they arrived and showed them where to set up.

Guest Speaker Barry Clark, group vice president at Oracle Commerce, presented at the FCB Business Division on March 1, 2013. He held an informal meeting where students could come and ask questions to start a discussion after a brief run-down on his work experience and thoughts on leadership. It was a valuable experience as Clark has more than 30 years of sales and general management experience under his belt.

This is just the beginning though as the BLP has several more events planned to help students go through the process of becoming good leaders.
