A study abroad trip to Mexicali by NAU students was recently reciprocated when Centro de Enseñanza Técnica y Superior (CETYS) University students visited NAU for their spring break, April 10-14, 2017.

Eighteen CETYS students and two faculty members traveled to Flagstaff to learn about business, culture, and more from NAU professors and faculty. The students visited campus during International Week and had the opportunity throughout the week to attend activities hosted by NAU that celebrated different cultures.

During their five-day stay, they sat in on lectures about U.S. culture and visited local businesses to see how they operate.

The group was taken to the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Flagstaff and Arizona Snowbowl for behind-the-scenes tours.

At Snowbowl, the students observed business operations and rode the new lift to the top of the mountain. This was the first time a majority of the group had ever been to Flagstaff or even seen snow!

The CETYS students were taken on a tour of NAU, and enjoyed free time to roam the campus and the city.

“They thought the campus was beautiful,” shared Nancy Baca, lecturer of economics and finance.

The climate in Flagstaff was noticeably different from Mexicali, but students were lucky and visited on a mild week when it can often snow in the High Country.

Faculty at NAU hosted a dinner for the CETYS visitors, and the students from the FCB study abroad trip were happy to be in attendance as well.

The week was packed with fun and relaxing activities that were beneficial to the CETYS students, overall. NAU looks forward to another trip next spring.
