In Fall 2016, Jaimee (Elder) Carnes (’13 MGT) was recognized by the NAU Office of Alumni Engagement with their 2016 Excellence in Achievement by a Recent Graduate Award.

Article Excerpt:

"Following the completion of her management major, Carnes began her career at Vanguard as part of the Retail Client Account Services department. … Currently, Jaimee has transitioned to a full time trainer position where she enjoys engaging with the new employees to help them understand the financial industry and Vanguard’s processes. Additionally, Carnes recently obtained her CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) designation which she plans to use to educate people so that they can achieve their personal and financial goals.

Carnes is also currently active within her community. As part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program she used her financial knowledge to prepare taxes for those with low incomes for free. In addition to preparing taxes, she also taught those coming about various tax credits and deductions so that they could be more tax-savvy in the future. Additionally she has been involved with teaching elementary students financial skills though Junior Achievement, United Way campaigns, food drives, and is part of a blood drive team that works to set up blood drives and market them.

'This is an incredible privilege and I am thrilled to represent NAU’s recent graduates.  Because of this award, I have been able to reflect on the last few years and recognize how thankful I am for all of my experiences at NAU and throughout my early career.'"
