FCB named in Sales Education Foundation’s 2017 “Top University Sales Program”
In April 2017, Marketing Professor Kevin Trainor was notified by the Sales Education Foundation (SEF) that the FCB was being recognized as one of their “Top Universities for Professional Sales Education.” SEF recognizes universities for preparing students for successful careers in professional selling and helping to elevate the sales profession. The accolade was published in the SEF 2017 ANNUAL magazine [pg. 12/article PDF HERE].
According to SEF, Professional Sales/Selling is one of the most common jobs for students graduating with a sales degree. Recent research suggests that 60% of all business majors and 88% of all marketing majors begin their professional careers in a sales-related role.
Sally Stevens, executive director of the Sales Education Foundation, noted that companies should have an increased focus on partnering with university sales programs and hiring their graduates. In her 2017 Annual Letter from the Editor she notes, “Candidates from these (sales) programs are more prepared to align with their initial sales roles and to compete in the ever-changing global economy.”
Trainor was honored by this next-level SEF recognition. “We continue to attract outstanding students and great companies to engage with our program and the momentum keeps building. It’s been very rewarding to see our students receive excellent job offers and to hear about their successes after they graduate,” he said.

The Evolution of the Program
In 2014, the marketing major’s curricula was extensively revised and a new “Sales and Sales Management” concentration was approved. In April 2015, the FCB was recognized by the SEF as a ‘notable’ program in SEF’s 2015 ANNUAL magazine’s “Top Universities for Professional Sales Education.” In April 2016, the FCB was recognized by the SEF as one of their “Top Universities for Professional Sales Education” in their SEF 2016 ANNUAL magazine [pg. 12]. In February 2017, FCB students put their training to the test at the Arizona Collegiate Sales Competition (ACSC) hosted by Arizona State University. Four students moved on to the second round of the competition. Of this group, two students went on to place in the final round. They then competed in the National Collegiate Sales Competition at the end of March. Read the full ACSC story HERE.
