Finance Advisory Council Mentor Program Matches Next Year’s Students
On March 24, 2017, FCB’s Finance Advisory Council held their spring semester meeting. During the meeting, council members were introduced to their new FCB student mentees.
This matching of FCB students with a mentor is part of the Finance Advisory Council's Mentor Program, which pairs high achieving students with a professional in their chosen career field. According to Allen Atkins, professor of finance, students are selected by FCB’s finance faculty to participate in the program.
Over the course of the next year, students will correspond with their mentor at least once a month. Many of the mentors in the program are FCB alumni, and all mentors have decades of professional experience to share with their students.
“As part of the program students get advice on job searches, career paths, and general employment information, and their discuss career goals,” explained Atkins.
Ultimately, this professional mentorship will help students gain greater professional insight and develop relationships to help them with their future endeavors.
