NAU Fastenal Sales Competition Winners Experience the Fastenal Supplier Expo
The NAU Fastenal Sales Competition winning team of senior management majors Chris Snowden-Santi and Karl Shilhanek won an all-expense paid trip to Fastenal’s Supplier Expo in Nashville, Tenn. from April 7 to April 9, 2015 (Sales Competition story HERE).
Shilhanek shared, "The trip to Nashville was a great way to finish my college career. Not only did we get to expand our professional networks, but got to see firsthand what a supplier expo was like, and how it could benefit different people….While Chris and I were browsing the booths, Kyle was taking the time to meet every vendor and learn more about their products. This showed me how dedicated Fastenal is to serving customers. This was reinforced during a brief conversation over lunch with Frank from AEA. He talked about how trust, reliability, and communication were so important to him, and how Fastenal constantly strives to build on these tenants.
"Finally, meeting the upper management of the company was a very rewarding experience. It showed me how a company culture can truly be implemented from the top down. There's no doubt that Mr. Hein and Mr. Polipnick have extremely busy schedules, and much better things to do, but they took time out to have a conversation with us and make a personal connection. The respect they show for everybody inside and outside of the company really proved to me that Fastenal is truly a relationship-based company."
Blake Suedekum, district manager for Fastenal – Phoenix/Northern Arizona, said, "I had a great experience with the trip to Nashville with the winning student team of Chris and Karl. I look forward to doing this again next year."
