Southwest Wealth Strategies’ Inaugural Scholarship
The generosity of Southwest Wealth Strategies (SWS) has once again been demonstrated through their creation of a scholarship to support the educational aspirations of students pursuing a career in finance. Students chosen for the scholarship are expected to maintain a 3.0 GPA in addition to being actively involved in extracurricular or club activities.
The scholarship was established by SWS partners, with the inaugural award presented on April 29, 2016 to junior finance student Matilyn Wojcik at the FCB Scholars & Donors Breakfast.
“NAU served as a springboard for five of our firm’s partners to start our careers in the investment consulting business. This scholarship is our way of trying to give back to the very institution that provided our firm’s foundation,” said John Arnold, CEO and managing partner.
Southwest Wealth Strategies support is not limited to the scholarship. In fall 2015 the partners donated a high definition television for the FCB Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab. With the addition of the television, students have the opportunity to view current market news as they work at the Bloomberg terminals.
”We appreciate the support of Southwest Wealth Strategies,” said FCB Dean Van Slyke. “With this scholarship support, recipients can more fully focus on their education.”
“We will continue to provide ongoing support to Northern Arizona University and the Franke College of Business. Their invaluable educational experience paved the way for several of our partner’s success, and we hope to provide that to the next generation of NAU FCB students,” said Chris Lanier, partner and director of Business Strategies
More on Southwest Wealth Strategies
Southwest Wealth Strategies, LLC was formed by bringing together a group of financial professionals with over 70 years of combined industry experience and over $100 million under management on the premise that a group of financial professionals, with diverse backgrounds and areas of experience, could more effectively meet the needs of their clients than individual financial professionals working alone.
Of the 10-member SWS financial team, half are proud NAU alumni – John Arnold (’99), CEO / managing partner; Raymond Dimuzio (’99), president / senior partner; Mark Asher (’96), director of new business operations / partner; Chris Lanier (’07), director of business strategies / partner; and Ben Miles (’03), partner.
