Two FCB students have been chosen to attend the big.bright.minds conference put on by the Filene Research Institute. Junior economics and math major Hunter Johnson and senior finance and accounting major Arve Hammeren will be joining 130 credit union executives for networking opportunities as well as attending a master class on behavioral economics with ideas42.

This year’s conference will be held at the Nassau Inn in Princeton, New Jersey from Monday, September 30, 2013 to Wednesday, October 2, 2013. The conference is an invite-only event so the students were very fortunate to have been selected.

Hammeren is involved in Beta Alpha Psi and plans on entering the MBA program in a year, then eventually working towards a career in strategic consulting. He hadn’t heard of the conference before being nominated, but believes it will be a beneficial experience.

“What I am the most excited about is representing NAU and The W. A. Franke College of Business at a conference attended by some of the brightest business people in the world,” he said. “Furthermore, to attend this event is a great honor and it will be a great opportunity for me personally to network with and learn from business professionals from all over the world.”

Johnson is currently a Supplemental Instructor for a lower division economics class and plans on attending graduate school in hopes of teaching economics in the future.

Both students will gain a lot of useful information and contacts from this event which could help them reach their career goals.
