The Most Wonderful Time of the Year—Career Exploration Day!

FCB students and faculty have proven their staggering professionalism once again with the Fall 2017 Career Exploration Day held October 6.

The Career Development Office (CDO) is proud to execute and host this opportunity-filled event, and each semester gets better for students and employers alike. Thanks to the dedication from the CDO, the week was full of career fair preparation, including Pathway professional events and an amazing 119 mock interviews that prepared students to make the best first impression and land their future career.

On the day of the fair, a total of 96 companies were in attendance along with nearly 540 students. Firm handshakes and elevator speeches were heard and seen all over the building, along with an impressive array of professional attire. Needless to say, the FCB students came well-prepared.

Among the 96 companies, many newcomers made an appearance in hopes of finding the best recruits. These companies included:

Arizona Department of Economic Security
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality
Arizona Diamondbacks
BBVA Compass
CopperPoint Insurance Companies
EDGE: The Service Company
Flagstaff Police Department
Freeport-McMoRan
NAU Peak Performance Mathematics Bridge Program
Navy Recruiting District Phoenix
Peace Corps (Post-Graduation Service Opportunity)
...and many more.

The result of the career fair was phenomenal, with several companies hosting interviews on Friday, and even staying until Saturday to wrap them up. Additionally, the five interview rooms available in FCB are booked through the month of October. These rooms are ran through the CDO and can be reserved in-person for future mock and other interviews.

The continued support from FCB and the CDO, as well as the exemplary professionalism from students, makes the career fair an event to keep on radar, and “continues to be one of the best days of the year in the College,” according to Associate Dean Kevin Trainor.

Students who were unable to attend the Career Exploration Day will have another chance next semester. The event will be held March 2, 2018. Follow the CDO on Facebook for more upcoming events to prepare for the next fair.
