Warren Buffett Extends His Invitation to FCB Students a 10th Time

Posted: Thursday, November 30th 2017 at 2:44 AM

As one of the most successful investors in the world, and certainly one of the most well-known, Mr. Warren Buffett seems untouchable. However, in February 2018 twenty students from NAU-The W. A. Franke College of Business will travel to Omaha, Nebraska for the 10th time for an invitation-only question and answer session with this generous man along with tours of three of his Berkshire Hathaway’s companies, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Borsheims and Oriental Trading Company.

Ms. Bernadine Lewis, director of the FCB Undergraduate Programs, made the announcement on November 29, 2017.

The selection process to participate in this extraordinary opportunity with Mr. Buffett is very competitive as only 18 undergraduates and 2 MBA students represent NAU and the FCB in this once in a lifetime opportunity.

To whom we owe gratitude

Scott Coor (’76 MKT), Trendwood Inc., utilized his connection with Mr. Buffett through his furniture company for FCB students to be considered for their first invitation in Fall 2006. The students impressed Mr. Buffett with their appreciation of his Life Lessons beyond the financial arena. This has kept them in consideration since. Mr. Coor has continued to make known to Mr. Buffett how appreciative the students have been and to keep them on the radar for the next opportunity. Thank you, Scott.
