Arizona Rural Policy Institute

The Arizona Rural Policy Institute (RPI) at The W. A. Franke College of Business, established in 2006, is one of three units of the Alliance Bank Business Outreach Center that comprise the University Center, authorized and funded in part by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA). University Centers improve the economies and economic development capacity of their service areas, with emphasis on economically distressed communities. RPI fulfills this charge by leveraging the vast capabilities of NAU staff, students, facilities, research entities, and other resources.

RPI publishes research outcomes in policy reports for local, regional, and statewide dissemination and provides technical assistance to communities for policy implementation.

RPI is also a unit of the Alliance Bank Business Outreach Center (ABBOC), and collaborates extensively with the ABBOC's other divisions: the Arizona Hospitality Research & Resource Center, the Center for American Indian Economic Development, and the Bureau of Business & Economic Research. RPI also receives funding and support from Coconino County, Alliance Bank of Arizona, and the NAU President's Office.
